A crash has sparked long delays on a busy route.

Kent Highways says traffic is building on the coastbound carriageway between Whitstable and the A291 junction for Herne Bay on the A299 New Thanet Way.

The route is partially blocked and there are delays for one mile, according to reports.

“Delays on the coastbound carriageway due to a road traffic collision between Whitstable and the A291 junction, Herne Bay,” Kent Highways shared on X.

“Approach with caution.”

Emergency services have been contacted for comment.
