Police rescue distressed man from Thanet Way bridge, Herne Bay

A distressed man has been safely brought down from a bridge over a major road in Herne Bay.

The man, whose age is unknown, was spotted on the flyover above the Thanet Way just after 7pm yesterday.

Police were called and rushed to the scene, where officers closed part of the road.

A police spokesman said: "By around 8pm the man was safely with officers.

"He has since been handed into the care of medical professionals."
