A loud explosion triggered a massive emergency response after a Mini went up in flames.
Crowds of neighbours watched on as fire crews and police officers worked to contain the blaze in Broomfield, on the cusp of Herne Bay, this morning.
A massive bang could be heard before black plumes of smoke rose above the village shortly before 10am.
Images show the smouldering husk of a devastated classic Mini vehicle, as firefighters damp down hot spots in Hawe Farm Way, off Mill Lane.
The road was shut and neighbours were advised to keep windows closed.
Fire crews left the scene shortly before 2pm - more than four hours after the callout.
A fire service spokesman said: “Three fire engines attended. Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets, hose reel jets and compressed air foam systems to extinguish flames.
“One person was passed into the care of SEACamb. The cause is unknown.”
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said the patient was assessed at the scene and was then released from their care.
