The footage from the scene appears to show damage has also been caused to Matt's Cutting Room Barber Shop next door.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at around 12.40pm to the blaze.

Crews arrived to smoke and flames issuing from the property and used main jets, hose reel jets, and water from a hydrant to extinguish the blaze.

Photos from the street show large plumes of smoke rising from the row of shops, which also includes a florist, dry cleaners and Premier.

The blaze is now out but firefighters remain at the scene.

Nobody has been injured.

Karen Goldsmith said: "I was there when it happened. It was awful.

"I was going into the Coop to get some shopping and looked over when it had just started.

"Suddenly it just shot up in flames.

"I didn’t see it originally start or hear what had caused it but I was there before the fire engines appeared."
