Multiple police vehicles spotted as officers arrest man in Herne Bay High Street

Multiple police vehicles were spotted on a busy high street, with a man arrested following a fracas in a town centre.

Officers took a 51-year-old man into custody earlier this morning after being called to Herne Bay High Street.

Police attended at 9.15am after receiving reports of a man making abusive comments to members of the public.

It is not known what the nature of the comments were but it is also alleged he attempted to assault a member of the public before he was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

A police spokesperson said: “He remains in custody and enquiries to establish the full circumstances continue.

“Anyone who witnessed his behaviour and has yet to speak to officers is urged to call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/20324/25.”
