A teenage motorcyclist has been sent to hospital following a crash with a car on a busy junction in Herne.

Police were called to the accident on Canterbury Road at the turning with Bullockstone Road just before 4pm.

The 19-year-old has gone to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford following the incident, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

The female driver of the grey Citroen Picasso involved was not injured.

About half an hour after the incident, a VW van left the road while trying to get out of the way of the ambulance called to the scene.

It landed in a ditch opposite the Canterbury Garden Centre, but the driver of the van was not injured.

A police spokesman confirmed the road has now reopened.
