Police shocked by extent of car vandalism

Fourteen cars have been damaged by vandals in Herne Bay, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

The vehicles, parked in Richmond Street, Kings Road and Beach Street, were scratched sometime between 4pm and 4.30pm on Thursday January 22.

PC Chris Kidd, who is investigating the incident said: “not only has this crime caused thousands of pounds worth of damage, it has also caused the car owners a significant amount of inconvenience.

“This kind of thoughtless vandalism is simply not acceptable.”

Police are particularly keen to speak with two school children, who may be as young as ten or 12 years old and were wearing black school uniform, with dark coats. One was carrying a black rucksack.

Anyone who can help with the investigation, should contact Canterbury Police Station on 01227 868262.
