Police stop jet skiers flouting lockdown rules in Herne Bay

Two jet skiers have been given a telling off by police after they flouted lockdown rules.

The pair were spotted astride their powerful machines on the water at Herne Bay just before 4pm today.

But their fun and games came to an abrupt end when officers arrived at Spa Esplanade in Hampton.

They were ordered off the water and forced to bring their jet skis ashore - yet were not issued with a fine.

A force spokesman said: "Officers attended the area and located two men who were given advice, in line with national guidance, and then moved on from the area."

Lockdown restrictions dictate that those who aren't key workers should not leave their homes unless to buy essential supplies or for their daily exercise.

But constant reminders to refrain from heading out on leisure activities are not hitting home with all.

Earlier this month, police ordered picnickers away from Mote Park, while tennis players fancied a game in Kennington and kite surfers took to the waves off Greatstone.
