Taxi driver targeted in attempted robbery in Reculver Road, Herne Bay

Detectives are on hunt for a man who tried to rob a taxi driver of his mobile phone.

Two men had been picked up in Canterbury on Saturday at around 2am and were taken to Herne Bay by taxi.

While one man got out in Reculver Road the second demanded the driver hand over his mobile phone.

He refused and the suspect ran off towards Mickleburgh Hill.

Now Detective Sergeant Vanessa Law is appealing to the public in an attempt to find witnesses.

She said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw the two men get into the grey Citroen Berlingo in Canterbury Lane, and we would also like to hear from anyone who saw the car in Reculver Road, between the junctions with Cornwallis Avenue and Maritime Avenue."

The man is described as white, of a skinny build, around 5ft 9in with an English accent. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue top.
