Traffic delays on A2990 Old Thanet Way in Herne Bay after crash

A van suffered extensive damage in a four-vehicle crash which shut off one side of a busy road this morning.

There were long queues along the Old Thanet Way in Herne Bay following the accident shortly after 7am.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash, including a van which had its front caved in after after colliding with a flat-bed truck.

Miraculously, no one was seriously hurt in the collision, which left the Herne Bay-bound lane shut off at Greenhill roundabout until shortly after 9am.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "I can confirm that we were called at approximately 7.10am today to reports of an road traffic collision near Greenhill Road, Herne Bay.

"One ambulance crew attended and one person was assessed and treated before being taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford."

Police confirmed they were called to a four-vehicle collision to assist with the recovery of the vehicles.

"The roundabout was closed while the incident was responded to and reopened shortly after 9am," they said.
