Vandals bring trains to halt after door damaged in Herne Bay

Vandals caused disruption on the rail network this morning by damaging a train door, preventing it from moving.

The affected train was stuck at Herne Bay station, with services towards London affected.

Engineers have since managed to fix the problem, and the train has moved.

However, disruption on the route remains.

A Southeastern spokesman said on X: “Engineers at Herne Bay have rectified the damage to the doors caused by vandalism.

“The service will soon be able to proceed towards London.

“Services will be subject to further delays and alterations as we work to get services back to normal working times.”
