Wildwood Trust in Herne turning visitors away for 'next hour'

Wildwood Animal Park proved so popular this week that it was forced to turn visitors away.

Traffic spilled over from its car park onto the A291 Canterbury Road on Tuesday as the attraction struggled to cope with a spike in half-term visitors.

A spokesman said it was taken by surprise by the crowds.

"We didn't think it would be this busy," he said. "It's unexpected.

"To stop the cars from causing congestion, we have people directing traffic on the road."

The spokesman added the site is still open and will allow visitors into the car park in the "next hour".

It is offering half-price entry to those cycling or using public transport to travel there.
