Woman flown to London hospital with serious injuries after car smashes into tree on A299 New Thanet Way between St Nicholas-at-Wade and Herne Bay

A woman was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries after a car smashed into a tree along a busy route.

The A299 New Thanet Way was shut last night after a blue Skoda left the London-bound carriage between St Nicholas-at-Wade and Herne Bay and crashed shortly before 7.50pm.

Police say one of the car's occupants, a woman in her 60s, was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The car's other occupant was taken to a local hospital.

A police spokesman said: “Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are carrying out inquiries and urge anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact them.”
