POLICE investigating a bogus caller incident have released an e-fit of a man they would like to speak to.

Two men called at the home of an elderly couple in Cobden Road, Hythe, between 11.30am and 12 noon on Saturday, October 20, pretending to be builders.

They tricked the couple into entering their garden, claiming they wanted to show them work they were carrying out in a property opposite.

While they were out in the garden one of the men appeared to receive a call on his mobile phone, then disappeared from sight.

When the other man who was in the garden left, the couple realised their sitting room door, which had been closed was open, and woman's handbag had been stolen from inside.

The man police would like to speak to is described as white, 5ft 6in tall of medium build with a fresh complexion, short dark hair and aged under 30.

Anyone who knows the identity of this man is asked to contact Det Con Nick Houghton on 01303 850055. Alternatively if you want to remain anonymous call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
