House fire in Blackhouse Hill closes road in Hythe

Four fire crews spent four hours battling a house fire this morning.

Emergency services shut Blackhouse Hill road, near Scene Valley Golf Club, Hythe after a fire was reported at the property at 6am.

Four fire engines attended the scene, as well as several police cars and at least one ambulance.

The fire crews have since extinguished the fire after fighting it for around two hours, but the road remained closed for some time, only being reopened as of 10.30am.

A spokesman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a domestic property fire on Blackhouse Hill in Hythe at around 6am.

"Four fire engines were sent to the scene and crews arrived to a fire spreading through two floors of the building. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a main jet and a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze. No casualties were reported and the cause is believed to be accidental."
