Police called to High Street, Hythe, to support man found lying in road

Police were called to a town centre today after a man was found to be 'obstructing traffic'.

He was found in Hythe High Street at lunchtime, with reports on social media suggesting the man was lying in the road.

One commenter said: "Anyone know what happened in the High Street?

"Police have gone down there. Someone laying on the road outside Sunshine Cafe. Hope the person is okay"

One witness offered the man a blanket and stayed with him until police arrived.

A spokesman for the force said: "Kent Police was called at 12.42pm to a report a man had been seen obstructing traffic in Hythe High Street.

"Officers attended and safely escorted the man away from the scene."
