A woman in her 80s has died more than two weeks after being hit by a bus outside a Waitrose store.
The pedestrian was struck by a single-decker vehicle on A259 Prospect Road in Hythe on October 1.
She was airlifted to a London hospital but police confirmed she died yesterday (Wednesday).
Officers say the bus was travelling east between Sun Lane and Douglas Avenue when it struck the pedestrian shortly before 3pm.
Bus operator Stagecoach confirmed one of its vehicles was involved.
A spokesman said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the woman involved in the incident with one of our buses.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.
“We are continuing to support the authorities as they look into the circumstances of the incident.”
Detectives from the serious collision investigation unit are continuing to make inquiries and are appealing for witnesses, including anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.
Offices are particularly keen to hear from passengers on the bus who may have left before police arrived.
