The club have announced that “virtually all of the squad involved in that excellent 2-0 win at Whyteleafe way back in March have committed to the Cannons, whenever the call comes for the new season.”

Frannie Collin scored twice in that game and the striker, who started his career at Gillingham, will be joined at the Reachfields Stadium but the likes of club captain and fans’ favourite Charlie Webster.

Other players committing for another season under Watt are Nathan Gordon, Tom Wynter, Kaka Dembele, Ross Ibbertson, Alex Brown, Alex Flisher, Tom Walmsley, Jarred Trespaderne and DJ Oldaker.

Popular goalkeeper Will Godmon is also staying and he will be backed by rejoining No.2 keeper Ryan Nicholls.

Former Sittingbourne and Herne Bay forward Kane Phillip, who signed just before the lockdown, has also indicated his availability, the club say.

Manager Watt will continue talks with other players ahead of a return to training shortly. His team finished mid-table in Isthmian League South East.

The club, meanwhile, are soon to announce a new club sponsor.
