The Education People Show 2020 at the Kent Event Centre is postponed until 2021 due to pandemic

Another major event has fallen victim to uncertainty over the on-going pandemic after organisers of The Education People Show postponed this year's event by four months.

The event, formerly known as EduKent Expo and Conference, was due to take place in November at Detling's Kent Event Centre.

But it has now been confirmed it has been pushed back to Wednesday, March 10.

Organisers The Education People and Revolution Events said the decision was taken as a result of the "continued uncertainty" around large-scale public gatherings.

James Roberts, CEO of The Education People said: “We are obviously disappointed. It was shaping up to be another incredible event despite the disruption caused by Covid-19.

"We have a primary duty of care towards the safety of our delegates, exhibitors, sponsors, staff and speakers and we are determined that the show should always deliver a platform for open and free-flowing discussion between school leadership teams.

"Hence, with less than three months to go, we feel it is better for us to defer until early next year than to risk a compromised event in November.

"Our partners Revolution recently polled more than two hundred pre-registered delegates and found that more than 80% favoured pushing back educational conferences to early 2021, making the final decision a lot easier.”

Although the government has now issued specific guidance for business conferences and exhibitions, they are still subject to a number of trials over the coming months.

Deborah Ward-Johnstone, group event director at Revolution Events, added: “We are constantly monitoring the prevailing health and safety risks for live events and we already have a range of precautions planned to reduce physical contact and proximity if necessary, which we are ready to implement as soon as we get the go-ahead from government."
