LK Bennett fashion chain, popular with Duchess of Cambridge, on brink of administration

One of the Duchess of Cambridge's favourite fashion brands is on the brink of collapse - putting at risk three outlets in Kent.

LK Bennett has stores at Bluewater, and concessions within Fenwick in Canterbury and Hoopers in Tunbridge Wells.

Across the UK, the high-end chain has more than 40 outlets, employing some 500 staff, plus another 52 stores overseas.

It has filed notice of intention to appoint an administrator.

Founded by Linda Bennett in London in 1990 with the vision of bringing “a bit of Bond Street luxury to the High Street” the entrepreneur sold her controlling stake in the firm in 2008 but acquired it back last year from private equity investors Phoenix Equity Partners.

Among the store's famous fans is the Duchess of Cambridge who has often sported their outfits.
