Jones Homes Southern hunting land in Kent to build hundreds of new homes

A Kent housebuilder says it is actively looking for "multiple new sites" in the region for new developments.

Jones Homes Southern, based in Swanley, is already building 70 in Lenham, 65 in Hoo St Werburgh and more than 70 at a site in West Sussex. It also hopes to secure planning permission for a further 171 in Minster on Sheppey.

But its new land manager says its ambitions are bigger.

Newly appointed Simon Collins explained: "If we secure permission for Sheppey, the total number of homes being built in the area by Jones Homes Southern will be nearly 400. That is an impressive commitment to the region, but we have more ambitious plans.

“My department is already looking at other sites in Kent and Sussex. The ultimate goal is to have five or six different developments of 100 or more homes ongoing at once. That is the challenge for me and my team.

“My job is to source, evaluate and appraise land opportunities and to deal with the process which enables the company to build new neighbourhoods and deliver much-needed new homes to the area."
