Ashford's Riverside Park housing development in Victoria Way takes shape

A topping out ceremony has taken place for a major new housing development which will see 246 apartments and 26 riverside townhouses built.

Real estate investment company GRE Assets is delivering the Riverside Park development in Ashford on a former Powergen brownfield site.

The multi-million-pound development saw work begin in the spring of 2017 with phase one due for completion early next year.

It is sited in Victoria Way, off Victoria Road - close to the town's international railway station.

Ashford Borough Council leader Cllr Gerry Clarkson said: “Riverside Park is the latest in a long line of exciting and inspirational town centre projects which together are transforming both the skyline and the fortunes of the Ashford borough.

"I am hugely impressed with the quality and design of the development which, like other major schemes currently underway in the area such as the Elwick Place cinema and leisure complex, makes best use of a brownfield site.

“I note that Riverside Park is GRE Asset’s first major scheme in Ashford and I’m delighted that the borough continues to be a real draw for the very best commercial enterprises and remains the obvious choice for expanding, thriving and established businesses.”

Michael El-Kassir, managing director of GRE, said: “We were attracted to Ashford for a number of reasons, not least because of its exceptional location and connections to London. But as important was Ashford’s successful thriving local economy and the ambitious borough council’s exciting regeneration plans.”

The Victoria Way development also includes a 120-bed hotel, a foodstore, Chapel Down’s new Curious Brewery and visitor centre and office and retail floorspace.
