One of the county’s best-known law firms has been acquired by a fast-growing firm.
Brachers, which has offices in Maidstone and Canterbury - has now joined Lawfront.
Lawfront, backed by private equity fund Blixt, has pursued an acquisition strategy to establish a portolio of regional legal companies nationwide.
The acquisition of Brachers, which was founded in Maidstone in 1895, brings revenues in the newly expanded group to in excess of £100 million.
It is Lawfront’s fifth large regional firm acquisition and the 11th in total.
Brachers achieved a turnover of more than £20m last year and made the Times’ ‘Best Law Firms 2025’ list.
Joanna Worby, Brachers’ managing partner, said: “We are an ambitious law firm with aspirational plans for the future, and our partnership with Lawfront is a great opportunity to accelerate growth and create enhanced opportunities for our staff and clients.
“Having the benefits of being part of a bigger group while retaining our brand and culture are a unique characteristic of Lawfront that made joining an attractive option to us.”
Neil Lloyd, Lawfront CEO, added: “Our proposition is increasingly attractive to firms considering what’s next, as it addresses the major concerns of succession, legacy and the scale of investment required to remain competitive. Others may be considering entering the market but as first mover, we have scale and momentum that will be hard to match.”
Other regional law firms now under the Lawfront umbrella include Farleys, Fisher Jones Greenwood, Nelsons, Slater Heelis and, now, Brachers.
