11 arrested for beer bottle throwing

Mindless yobs pelted beer bottles from a flat window today leaving cars damaged and a street showered in broken glass.

The incident happened at around 5.45am in Augusta Road, Ramsgate, and sparked fears the road was left unsafe.

Police were called and arrested 11 suspects on suspicion of causing a breach of the peace.

All 11 appeared at Margate Magistrates' Court earlier and were bound over to keep the peace.

Ch Insp Mitchell Fox, district commander for Thanet, said: "This sort of mindless behaviour not only puts public safety at risk, it also has a considerable effect on the well-being of local residents.

"Today's action is part of an on-going operation to deal with anti-social behaviour in this area and we will continue to work with Thanet District Council and our partners to bring those that persist in acting in such an inconsiderate and objectionable way to book."
