2 more held over stabbing incident

TWO BOYS, a girl and a man have been arrested in connection with a serious assault that left a man with stab wounds and a broken leg.

Police arrested two more people on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm last Friday in connection with the incident in Margate.

Dean Leonard Smith, 20, of Dane Valley Road, Margate, has been charged with wounding with intent and is due to appear before Margate magistrates today.

The two boys, a 16-year-old from Ramsgate and a 14-year-old from Margate, were arrested early last Thursday afternoon. Both have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 16-year-old Ramsgate girl has been bailed until 12 December pending a decision to prosecute by the Crown Prosecution Service.

A 35-year-old Margate man was found in Love Lane with a stab wound to his abdomen, four to his back and a broken leg on at 10.45pm on October 5. He was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

A 17-year-old Ramsgate girl was also arrested in connection with the assault, but was released without charge.

Detectives are appealing for the occupants of a car that stopped at the scene of the assault to come forward.

Det Sgt Claire Munday said: “During the assault a car stopped next to the group fighting and the occupants told the group to leave the victim alone before driving off. I would really like to hear from those people.”

Anyone who witnessed the assault or has information is asked to contact DS Munday on 01843 222192.
