Abandoned baby: Man released on police bail

A 24-year-old man being questioned by detectives in connection with a baby boy found abandoned in his buggy in Gillingham town centre has been released on police bail without charge.

The man, who lives in the Medway Towns, was arrested on Tuesday along with a 19-year-old woman. She was earlier released on police bail.

The baby, named Charlie by detectives, has been taken to foster carers in Strood where he will stay indefinitely. He was abandoned at a busy junction in Gillingham.
