Carpet giant Allied Carpets has gone into administration.

The store chain, with nine outlets across Kent, is the latest major company to be hit by the recession.

Nationally, more than 1,100 jobs are at risk.

The Kent stores are at Ashford, Bromley, Canterbury, Dartford, Folkestone, Gillingham, Maidstone, Orpington and Tunbridge Wells.

Customers chasing up orders from Allied Carpets were told by store staff today that all outstanding orders would be fullfilled.
