Armed Forces Day tomorrow is a time to show your support for current troops, service families, veterans and cadets.

These are the people who risk their lives everyday, defending our country, providing security and fighting terrorism.

The official day this year is Saturday, June 29, but events will take place across the whole week to celebrate, with everyone encouraged to get involved.

Ashford

Ashford's Armed Forces Day will be held at Victoria Park, from 11am to 5pm on Sunday.

Fairground rides, bouncy castles and a tug of war are just some of the activities planned for the day.

Live music and refreshments will also be available.

Canterbury

A celebration will be held in Canterbury on Friday night from 6.45pm to 9pm at Canterbury Academy.

D-Day 75 is the theme this year, with two veteran guests of honour coming along, one who is 103-years-old.

Performers will include The Salvation Army Band and young people from around Kent who have special needs.

Tickets are free but must be booked.

Dover

Guston Village Hall will not only see Armed Forces Day celebrations on Saturday, but also its official reopening after 20 years of being sat derelict and boarded up.

Thanks to several generous funders including The Army Covenant, the hall has been transformed into a modern space for the community to enjoy.

Homemade cakes and tea and coffee will be available during the open day, running from 2pm to 4pm, with all donations passed on to war veterans.

Folkestone

A Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team’s performance will take place this year, on Sunday, June 30.

Thousands descended on The Leas last summer for the Red Arrow display, which will begin at 4pm and last for 20 minutes.

The free event will also see cadet’s laser shooting tents, vehicle and weapon displays, The Great War Trench Experience and a flight simulator.

Isle of Sheppey

Heat up your hair curlers or grab your trilby - there is a 40s theme in Sheppey this weekend.

Vintage hair stylists and a 1940's classic car which the Queen sat in are heading to Shurland Dale Holiday Park on Saturday.

This Armed Forces Fun Day will run well into the night - from noon to midnight.

Old school party games, dances and ration pack menus will give youngsters a taste of life during the Second World War.

Cadets will join the celebrations at the holiday park, with lots of parking available and holiday homes for hire if you want to make a weekend out of it.

Maidstone

Headcorn Aerodrome will host a fair jam-packed with activities on Saturday.

Visitors will be able to see all manner of military spectacles including parachuting, flight training and some iconic aircrafts from the Second World War.

There will also be tank rides and other activities for people to get involved in.

The day, which cadets, service personnel and veterans will also attend, will run from 10am to 4pm and is free to the public.

Medway

The Royal School of Military Engineering is supporting Medway's celebrations this year.

Organised by Medway Council, The City of Rochester Pipe Band will kick off the day at 11.30am in the main arena at Great Lines Heritage Park.

Music will carry on throughout the day, with the bandstand welcoming Swingtime Sweethearts and a Military Wives Choir.

Other highlights include helicopters, drive-a-digger and a military obstacle course.

The Saturday programme, of which the full list can be seen here, is free and will run from 11am to 5pm.

Ramsgate

A parade around the only Royal Harbour in the UK will be led by a marching band on Saturday from 1pm.

The crowd will then make its way to Ramsgate main sands, where a Drum Head service, prayers, and hymns will take place.

The Parade will later pass service personnel outside the Custom House for a formal salute, with it all coming to a head on Harbour Parade at around 2pm.

Sittingbourne

People of all ages are invited to a barbecue at Phoenix House community centre on Saturday for an "Inclusive Armed Forces Day".

Organised by charity group, Diversity House, a member of the Armed Forces will speak, along with various performances from singers and dancers throughout the celebration.

An army-themed photography exhibition will also be on display and the Town Mayor will open and close the ceremony.

The day will run from 11am to 4pm and is free to attend.

A procession through Sittingbourne High Street will also take place on Saturday, starting at St Michael's Church.

The march will start going through the town centre at 10.45am and members of the reserve forces, Royal British Legion, Scouts, Guides and Brownies will be seen in the crowds.

A Peace Day Celebrations Centenary march will follow the same route earlier on Saturday morning, to mark 100 year since the official end of the First World War, when the peace agreement was signed.

Swanley

The dramatic arrival of Tigers Display Team, who will parachute in, will set the day in good steed - if weather permits.

Running from 11am on Saturday, around 30 stalls at Swanley Recreation Ground will offer everything from children's rides to a sneak peak inside a fire engine.

Mums and dads can enjoy a cider or gin while kids get stuck in to a cream tea, with plenty of food and drink vendors set to attend.

The day will come to a close at 4pm.

Tonbridge

Free entry to Tonbridge Castle is being offered to armed forces personnel, both past and present, and their immediate families to mark the event on Saturday.

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council is also paying tribute by flying a special flag at the castle, which was raised yesterday and will remain in place all week.

Westgate

Westgate Council has decided to throw a street party in celebration of the day.

Entertainment will include music and comedy, with plenty of food and drink to go round.

The Saint Mildreds Road party will kick off at 2pm on Saturday and is expected to go on until 9pm.
