Arrest after suspicious fire at Sevenoaks hotel

A man was arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a Kent hotel.

Firefighters went to the Moorings Hotel in Hitchen Hatch Lane, Sevenoaks at around 11.50pm Thursday.

There were initially fears people were trapped inside the three-storey building.

Four appliances were used to tackle the blaze and fire crews carried out a full search of the building.

Police also carried out a forensic examination of the scene. No one was hurt.

A police spokesman said the suspect was in custody on Friday while investigations continue.
