A soup factory was evacuated after a fire broke out.

It happened at Premier Foods at Kennington Road, Willesborough, at about 3.30pm yesterday.

Firefighters believed the small fire was caused by a component overheating in an 10-metre wide electrical power room.

A spokesman for Ashford Fire Station said: "It was more smoke that travelled.

"While it was only a small fire the company has strict evacuation procedures so everyone had to leave."

Two fire engines were at the scene and crews were there for 45 minutes.

The company is famous for its Batchelors brand and last year opened a new factory, hiring 400 people.
