Avengers star Tom Hiddleston is among the latest group of celebrities to settle down on the sofa and read a Cbeebies Bedtime Story.

The British actor, alongside television presenter Cat Deeley, are the next big names about to be added to a long list of celebrities to have read a bedtime book on the BBC children's television channel.

So far this year Bridgerton Duke Regé-Jean Page, actors Tom Hardy and Chris O'Dowd, singer Rag‘n’Bone Man and Strictly dancer Oti Mabuse have also all settled down in the studio to read a popular children's tale – with Tom Hardy's appearances said to be the most watched stories on the channel.

Host Cat Deeley will read the Cbeebies Bedtime Story this Sunday – Father's Day – which is called Love Makes A Family, by Sophie Beer, about the love shared by family members.

Meanwhile Tom Hiddleston will make his CBeebies debut on Friday, June 25 when he reads the fun-filled adventure ‘Supertato’, by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet, about a superhero potato and a supervillain pea.

Tom, who played Loki in The Avengers films and in the Disney Plus series that premiered last week, will open the story by saying: “Tonight’s bedtime story is all about a supervillain. This guy is really naughty, very cheeky… and bright green. But never fear, because where there’s trouble, a superhero is sure to follow.”

CBeebies Bedtime Stories are shown at 6.50pm on the CBeebies channel and are also available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
