Bedding plants stolen from crematorium

POLICE in Margate are investigating after scores of bedding plants were stolen from the Thanet Crematorium. Plants worth about £100 were taken from the site in Manston Road over two nights.

At about 11pm on Thursday, June 10, witnesses saw a man and a woman going in and out of the cemetery with a wheelbarrow.

At about the same time the next night a man, who walked with the aid of a stick, was seen leaving the cemetery carrying black sacks. He drove off in a large blue car.

It is thought between 150 and 200 bedding plants were stolen over the two nights.

The incidents may be linked and police are keen to hear from anyone with further information.
