Beer stolen from sleeping lorry driver

THIEVES managed to steal £3,500 worth of alcohol from a parked lorry while the driver was asleep.

The lorry was parked in a lay-by on Detling Hill, close to the Kent County Showground, on Tuesday March 23.

The driver went to sleep at around 8pm, but when he woke up at 4.45am the next day, he discovered that the side curtain on the lorry had been slashed and more than four crates of a cargo of beer had been stolen.

The stolen alcohol is estimated to cost around £3,500 and the lorry sustained about £300 worth of damage.
