Bid to steal holiday park caravan

A CARAVAN was dragged 400 metres by thieves who tried to steal it from a Kent holiday park early today. A member of staff at the Two Chimneys Park in Shottendane Road at Birchington was woken by shouting at about 4.30am.

She looked out of a window and saw two men who were about 5ft 10in tall. She then heard a vehicle drive away and telephoned security. A security guard also heard swearing and shouting, and a vehicle driving off, but saw nothing.

A beige Hobby caravan was found on the site's main road, about 400 metres from its pitch. A police spokeswoman said: ”Although it was very early in the morning and the site is quite isolated, the road is a popular shortcut.

“If anyone saw a vehicle leaving at around 5am, or acting suspiciously, we would like them to contact us.”
