Bosses at a Folkestone bar called Stones have been jailed... for dealing in cocaine.

Owners Robert Clements, 29, and pal Trevor Ball, 37, had run the popular bar in Rendezvous Street.

But in July last year police officers went to investigate a punch-up... and spotted cocaine in bags at the premises.

Clements of Victoria Grove and Ball of Westbourne Gardens were both jailed for three years after admitted dealing in the Class A drug. Clements admitted two other drugs charges.

Kerry Waitt, for Ball, said he had been enticed into the drug world because cocaine had been associated with “celebrity and glamorous” lifestyles.

But Judge James O’Mahony (pictured above), in jailing the two told them: “There is nothing glamorous about what is going to happen to you.

“Both of you are intelligent and have displayed a good work ethic. Now you both have a criminal record and you are going down the steps (to jail) for a long time!”

Prosecutor Donna East told how police had gone to Stones to investigate an incident earlier in the evening.

While inside the premises, they noticed white powder and a number of bags, which forensic tests later revealed contained traces of the drug.

She told Canterbury Crown Court that drugs were also found in a tin on a work top and when officers went to Ball’s home address they discovered cocaine on a black slate board, a large quantity of bags and a list of people’s names.

Clements’ home was also raided and officers found a set of scales, the court heard.

Nicholas Jones, for Clements, said: “He was under considerable stress at the time and took drugs to deal with that stress.

“But it then spiralled out of control and he started selling to fund his own use. But there was no life of luxury being funded by this enterprise.”
