Boy thief grabs woman's pension

A PENSIONER had her handbag containing £140 snatched after collecting her pension from a post office. The thief struck as the elderly woman was walking home along Britton Street, in Gillingham.

A passer-by found the handbag dumped nearby, but all its contents had been stolen. The victim, who has not been named, had been to Green Street Post Office to collect her pension and to do her shopping in the High Street.

She turned left into Canterbury Street, right into Lock Street, then left into Britton Street when the offender approached her from behind and snatched her handbag.

The culprit is described as around aged 13 and was wearing a red jacket. He ran off in the direction of Upper Britton Street.

Anyone with any information concerning the incident should phone Medway Police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
