Boys' bid to snatch handbag thwarted

A WOMAN struggled to keep hold of her handbag when two boys tried to snatch it from her in a park in Ramsgate.

The victim was walking along a footpath near the railway line at Warre recreation ground in Newington Road when the youngsters, riding dark mountain bikes, asked her for the time.

When she replied ‘no’, the boys cycled off. But they returned minutes later, grabbed the strap of handbag and tried to wrench it away.

Police say that although the woman stumbled, she managed to cling on to her property.

Her attackers, aged between ten and 13 and wearing grey hooded tops, rode off towards Newington Road. The attempted snatch happened at about 3.30pm on Tuesday.
