A woman leapt from her bed as a car ploughed into the front of her Greatstone home.

Pensioner and widow Sylvia Richardson broke down in tears as she opened a door to see her own car pushed into her porch after a 24-year-old motorist crashed while driving along The Parade at around 7.40am.

Mrs Richardson said: "There was a mighty bang and I jumped out of bed. I didn't know what was going on. I looked out the window and saw my neighbour out front and the back of my car in the drive."

Opening an inner door revealed the true extent of the damage.

She said: "The porch was covered in glass and my ornaments were broken. I broke down and went to pieces. I couldn't do anything."

No one was hurt in the crash, which happened at around 7.40am Thursday.
