Why would you want to go anywhere else? That was the reaction of tourism chief Amanda Cottrell when invited to support our Celebrate Kent campaign.

We have joined forces with kmfm, our sister radio station, for a Summer of Love for Kent and are asking readers what they think is great about our county.

“To visit Kent is a unique experience,” said Mrs Cottrell, chairman of the Visit Kent tourism group and a former High Sheriff. "It is a shopping and foodie paradise, with superb pubs and Michelin-starred restaurants, local wines and cheeses, fruit and vegetables - even snails!

“It has enchanting villages, cutting edge technology, castles, glorious countryside and a stunning coastline.

"Kent celebrates its past, present and future in everything it does, making it a very special place to live and work, and of course to visit for either a short break or a good, long holiday. No passports, 37 minutes or less from London - why go anywhere else?"
