Co-op store in Westerham, West Kent, held up at gunpoint

Police are hunting two armed robbers after a Kent supermarket was held up at gunpoint.

Staff at the Co-op, in High Street, Westerham, were closing up yesterday when the men stormed in and demanded cash.

One was carrying a knife and the other a gun.

The robbers stole money from a cash box and a shop till and then walked out of the shop.

No one was hurt in the robbery, which took place at around 9.30pm. But police did say staff were left shaken by what happened.

Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "One of the men is described as white, aged 25 to 27, 5ft 7ins to 6ft tall.

"He had a slim build and brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark blue training jacket with light blue stripes on the sleeves and a red logo on the front and white trainers."

The spokesman added: "His face was covered with a dark balaclava.

"The other man is described as black, slightly smaller in height, he was wearing dark blue jogging bottoms with a stripes down the legs, a dark grey Puffa-style jacket with the hood worn up and a scarf covering his face."
