Coastguards rescue boys

Four boys were rescued from a beach on the Isle of Sheppey after they got cut off by the tide.

The group of 12-13 year olds dialled 999 at around 9.30pm yesterday (Sunday) after they realised they were getting cut off at Warden Point.

Sheppey Coastguard, Sheerness RNLI inshore lifeboat and a Sea King helicopter were scrambled but the boys couldn't tell them exactly where they were.

The lifeboat crew located them and helped get them winched on to the helicopter which lifted the boys to safety

They were cold and muddy but not hurt. Their parents were called to pick them up.
