Kent Fire and Rescue save people stuck in cars due to flooding

Drivers are being warned to drive carefully after fire fighters were called to several people stuck in flood water.

Crews were called to Coppins Road, Leigh in Tonbridge to rescue a man stuck in the water after driving through it.

At 6.15am they were called to another car stuck in flood water in Lower Chart Road, East Sutton.

Colin King, area manager for building and customer safety at Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: ”Please take care during the current weather conditions.

"Flood water is often deeper than it looks and may be moving quite fast - your vehicle could be swept away or become stranded.

"If you see a sign to say that the road is closed due to flooding, remember the sign is there for a reason and find an alternative route

"When driving make sure you drive to suit the conditions – keep lights on and speeds down, remembering road surfaces will be slippery and your braking distance will be longer

The Environment Agency has issued several flood warnings for the county and drivers are facing long delays.
