Escapee prisoner from Standford Hill caught

A prisoner who escaped from Standford Hill Prison two weeks ago has been found.

Paul Edwards, 28, was arrested by Surrey Police at around 4.50pm yesterday, in Addlestone, Surrey.

Edwards fled from the closed prison in Eastchurch some time between noon and 6pm on Thursday, May 6.

He was serving a sentence for a number of theft and burglary offences.

Police were called to Garfield Road in Addlestone after a member of the public reported a man acting suspiciously.

Edwards has now been returned to prison to complete the rest of his sentence.
