An estate agency has come under fire for failing to mention that
the fisherman's cottage it is selling is close to Dungeness A and B
power stations.
Several national newspaper have carried the story of Westbeach,
a three-bedroom bungalow for sale for £247,000, and the fact that
Geering & Colyer estate agent has extolled its virtues – but
made no mention of the power stations looming in the
background.
The agent has described the property as "not to be missed!"
The Daily Telegraph reports how homeseeker Alex Robertson was shocked at visiting the cottage having seen it first online.
He said: "When I got there I just saw this tiny fisherman’s
cottage in the shadow of these huge nuclear power stations."
According to Romney Marsh county councillor Willie Richardson
the house is well known in the area.
He said: "I would have thought that the agents would have turned
it around. Where else can you buy a house close to a power
station?"
A Geering and Colyer spokesman declined to comment.
