A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Kent-born financier John Monckton.

Elliott White, 23, of no fixed home, is also accused of the attempted murder of Mr Monckton’s wife, Homeyra, as well as robbery and conspiracy to rob.

White appeared at West London Magistrates' Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday.

Mr Monckton, 49, who was killed on November 29, was raised in Sittingbourne Road, Maidstone. Both he and his wife were stabbed when two men called at their home in Upper Cheyne Row, Chelsea.

The couple were found by their youngest daughter, Isobel, who called 999.

Another man arrested in connection with the investigation has been granted bail until a date in January.
