Derelict, fire-hit Stonleigh House in Tram Road, Folkestone, to be auctioned with potential for flats scheme

A derelict office block, which was recently gutted by a fire, is on the market with potential to be flattened and replaced with flats.

Stoneleigh House, in Tram Road, is close to Folkestone’s bustling Harbour Arm.

It was once the offices of Lütken-Simmonds Consultancy, among other businesses, but has sat abandoned for many years.

The building is now going under the hammer as a development opportunity with a guide price of £675,000.

In December 2018, planning permission was granted to demolish and replace the office block with 14 affordable flats.

This has since expired, but if it were to be reenacted, the scheme would provide 11 two-bed and three one-bed homes.

The whole site measures 793 square meters and includes an overgrown yard to the rear.

In August, fire crews battled a large blaze at the building.

Three fire engines and a height vehicle attended, and residents were advised to keep their windows and doors shut due to smoke.

Stoneleigh House will be auctioned on November 19.
