Fundraising to get two-year-old Florence Jackson to America for cancer treatment

In just eight days fundraising efforts to get Florence Jackson to the US for life-saving surgery have reached more than £175,000 - 70% of the needed amount.

Florence's family are in a race against the clock to raise the £250,000 needed

to get Flo to America and fund the operation.

Two-year-old tot Flo has stage 4 neuroblastoma, which was originally diagnosed in December 2015.

But before they can go to the US for the treatment, her tumour must be shrunk and over the weekend she started cycle two of her chemotherapy.

Last night Florence's mum, Carolyn Jackson, posted a facebook update via the JustGiving site that said Florence had finished the weekend with a hot bath having "refused having a bath for weeks, so things must be looking up.".

More than 7,300 well-wishers have joined Florence's fight, altogether donating more than £175,000.

Speaking to KentOnline last week, Florence's dad Rodney Jackson said: "We just want to say thank you to everyone that has helped. It is just amazing what everyone is doing for us.

"It's humbling to see how many want to help, it has taken our minds off what's going on to a certain extent. It has been a huge help. So many friends, family and complete strangers are rallying around to help us and help little Flo out, it is amazing."
