Gillingham assistant manager Mark Robson left the club on Wednesday, less than a month after taking up the position.

Robson, pictured, formed part of new Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler's managerial team.

But the Gills have stated that Robson is leaving the club, although he could return to Priestfield at a later date.

A club statement said: "Gillingham FC regret to announce that due to personal reasons Mark Robson is unable to take up his position of Assistant Manager at this moment in time.

"Whilst this is disappointing for all parties, we respect his position and will keep in close touch with him in the period ahead, keeping the door open for him to return should he feel it appropriate."

Robson was first-team coach when Mark Stimson was in charge of the Gills but was promoted to number two under Hessenthaler.
