Gravesend man faces life sentence for murdering wife

A man is facing a life sentence after admitting murdering his wife.

The 34-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, entered the plea at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.

He killed his wife in August last year.

Judge Jeremy Carey told him: "You have today pleaded guilty to the most grave crime in the criminal calendar - murder.

"You will be sentenced in due course. On that occasion, I will have a good deal to say about you, about the dreadful crime you have committed and about the expectation, and justifiable expectation, of the public of the most severe sentence for those like you who commit this offence."

The man, from Gravesend, was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on date to be fixed.
