In anticipation, all of Kent's major roads will be treated by Kent County Council's highways team operating the authority's fleet of gritters.

The alert was issued by Toby Howe, winter duty officer for KCC's highways, transportation and waste.

Drivers are being warned to be aware of icy patches, particularly on untreated roads, and urged to drive with caution avoiding any sharp breaking or harsh acceleration or steering.
